Hollymead is a beautiful, established, planned community in northern Albemarle County located off of Route 29.  We enjoy easy access to shopping in the County, Charlottesville area and the airport.

The community was established in the early 1970's with an abundance of residential choices.  There are single family homes, many in quiet cul-de-sacs and others with views of Hollymead Lake.  There are also Somer Chase townhomes, Hollymead Square Townhomes and The Greens at Hollymead apartments.

Hollymead has over 30 acres of common area, including Lake Hollymead which is located on the north east border of the Hollymead subdivision.  Amenities offered to our residents include: walking trails, tot lot, playground, pool, trash collection, and gardening (via the HCA Grounds Committee).

Hollymead has miles of paved trails, a pool and is the home of excellent neighborhood schools such as Hollymead Elementary and Sutherland Middle, all within walking distance.  Both schools host a variety of programs in their gyms and on their sports fields.  It is also common to see a hot air balloon landing in these fields.

The Hollymead Citizens Association (HCA) was established in 1973 for the residents of Hollymead.  All residents, including those of Somer Chase, are members of HCA, which is governed by an elected Board of Directors.  Elections are held annually in April.  The primary responsibilities of the Association are to manage common grounds, staff the Architectural Review Board, and manage the pool.  All of the voting members of the Board are volunteers.

All homeowners are responsible for paying annual assessments.  The assessments are used to pay for common ground maintenance and other expenses that the Association incurs.
